Davao-GenSan-Indonesia RORO Route

Davao-GenSan-Bitung RORO route to decongest ports in Manila

DAVAO CITY (MindaNews / 28 April) – The operation of the Davao-General Santos-Bitung, Indonesia roll on/roll off (RORO) Shipping Service starting on April 30 will decongest port traffic in Manila, an official of the Mindanao Development Authority (MinDA) said.

In a press conference on the launch of the Davao-GenSan-Bitung sea route at the Apo View Hotel Davao Friday, Eamarie M. Gilayo, development management officer III at the MinDA, said government intends to ease out the traffic at the ports in the country’s capital aside from creating economic activities with the opening of this new sea connectivity.

PLDT turns General Santos City into a ‘Fibr City’

MANILA, Philippines, April 9, 2017 – Leading telecoms and digital services provider PLDT has laid down fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) facilities in General Santos City, making it the first ‘Fibr City’ in Mindanao which can experience fiber-fast internet for its diverse population and bustling enterprises.


Undertaken in partnership with the GenSan local government, the FTTH roll-out will benefit the growing data connectivity needs of the whole SOCCSKSARGEN region which is composed of the vibrant provinces of South Cotabato, Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat and Sarangani.

Magnitude 7.2 Earthquake Strikes Southern Philippines

A magnitude 6.8 earthquake struck offshore near Glan town in Sarangani province, early Saturday morning, the United States Geological Survey said.

The tremor struck at a depth of 26 kilometers around 4:23 a.m., the USGS said.

The USGS recorded the quake initially at magnitude 7.2 before revising it.

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said it recorded the earthquake at magnitude 7.2.

DoLE Schedules Nationwide Job Fairs On May 1, 2017

The Department of Labor and Employment (DoLE) is conducting nationwide job fairs on May 1, 2017 (Labor Day), to celebrate the first Labor Day under the administration of President Rodrigo R. Duterte.
