Davao-GenSan-Bitung RORO route to decongest ports in Manila

DAVAO CITY (MindaNews / 28 April) – The operation of the Davao-General Santos-Bitung, Indonesia roll on/roll off (RORO) Shipping Service starting on April 30 will decongest port traffic in Manila, an official of the Mindanao Development Authority (MinDA) said.

In a press conference on the launch of the Davao-GenSan-Bitung sea route at the Apo View Hotel Davao Friday, Eamarie M. Gilayo, development management officer III at the MinDA, said government intends to ease out the traffic at the ports in the country’s capital aside from creating economic activities with the opening of this new sea connectivity.

PLDT turns General Santos City into a ‘Fibr City’

Magnitude 7.2 Earthquake Strikes Southern Philippines

A magnitude 6.8 earthquake struck offshore near Glan town in Sarangani province, early Saturday morning, the United States Geological Survey said.

The tremor struck at a depth of 26 kilometers around 4:23 a.m., the USGS said.

The USGS recorded the quake initially at magnitude 7.2 before revising it.

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said it recorded the earthquake at magnitude 7.2.

GenSan Economic Zone

PRESIDENT Benigno S Aquino III has finally designated the GenSan Economic Zone (GEZ) as a special economic zone, triggering the operator composed of a local consortium to go full-blast in attracting investors to the facility, a company executive said on Tuesday.

Aquino signed Proclamation No 820 creating and designating around 47 hectares of land in the village of Tambler as a special economic zone on July 3, a copy of which was formally released last week to the developer, the Damalerio Realtors, Inc.
